Mary Katrantzou

As a Textile Design student currently deciding whether to progress further in the field of Printed textiles or Constructed Textiles (Weave or knit) I have developed a small list of designers which I feel inspire me which I should be exploring over the next few days.
Athens born designer Mary Katantzou is one designer which I have been drawn to recently to research further into after discovering her collection for Topshop at the beginning of the year which I am sure many of you are familiar with.

Whilst researching further into Mary's prints I stumbled across her Autumn/ Winter 2012-13 collection debuted at London Fashion Week. This collection, in true style, featured prints from head to toe.

This is my favourite

Here are a selected few prints from the catwalk that caught my eye. The use of repeated digital imaging to create these stark prints really works well in creating an interesting focal point across the dresses. I also admire the way Mary has taken traditional silhouettes and put a modern twist on them to emphasise the female form.

Dreaming Pastels

Pastel Colours have been set as a huge trend for Spring/Summer this year and personally I adore the trend with its ranges of muted pinks, subtle mint hughes, hazy blues, pale shades of lemon and soft lilacs. Here are some images I have gathered off Tumbler and Flicker which I feel show this pastel trend well and inspire me greatly.
